Counselling
My Approach
For me the counselling process is about developing an understanding of and reflecting on your experiences, and how these experiences may continue to show up in your present. It is about knowing and sharing the story of you. It is also about choice, discovery and making positive decisions that will shape your future story.
Counselling is a journey towards wholeness, health and wellbeing.
My role as your counsellor is to walk with you on that journey, to help you understand your symptoms, unpack your story and make positive change in your life.

I use various modalities in my counselling work, shaped by the unique needs of the client. As a somatic professional, I use a lot of body-based techniques in my work as well as evidence-based practices specific to healing from trauma. My work is heavily influenced by the neuropsychological work of Dan Siegal, Deb Dana and Stephen Porges (Polyvagal theory), Michael White (Narrative Therapy), Richard Schwartz (IFS) Janina Fisher (Complex Trauma and Structural Dissociation) and many others. I am qualified in both EMDR and Havening techniques for trauma processing.

I look forward to meeting you for our first session together.
Our first session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will complete some important paperwork including an intake assessment and confidentiality agreement. This helps me get a picture of your history, and the things in your present that are weighing heavily on you.
It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you have about the way I work, so you can figure out if I am a a good fit for you.
